SDP Batch 2026-B Enrolment Now Open — Limited Seats Available

HBIMS announces the opening of admissions for SDP Batch 2026-B commencing March 2026. This batch has a capacity of 60 cadets and is expected to fill quickly given the high demand. Early applicants receive priority in batch allocation and hostel room assignment. Applications are accepted online through our website and offline at all four office locations (Bawal Campus, Jaipur, Mumbai, Gurugram). The MNAT examination can be taken online from home or at any HBIMS office.

100% of Batch 2025-F Cadets Placed — Record 45-Day Turnaround

HBIMS is proud to announce that all 58 cadets from SDP Batch 2025-F have received their onboard assignments within a record 45 days of programme completion. Cadets have been placed with Maersk, MSC, Anglo-Eastern, Synergy Marine, V.Ships, and Fleet Management. The average starting salary for this batch is ₹42,000/month with the highest offer at ₹65,000/month on a chemical tanker. This continues our unbroken 100% placement record since inception.

New Engine Room Simulator Installed — ₹25 Lakhs Investment

HBIMS has commissioned a new state-of-the-art engine room simulator featuring a full-scale main diesel engine cut-away model, operational auxiliary systems, and modern electronic control panels. The simulator, procured from a leading marine equipment manufacturer, replicates the engine room environment of a modern commercial vessel and allows cadets to practise engine operations, fault diagnosis, and emergency procedures in a safe training environment.

DG Shipping Updates STCW Training Requirements for 2026

The Directorate General of Shipping has issued updated guidelines for STCW basic safety training effective January 2026. Key changes include enhanced fire fighting practical hours, updated sea survival techniques incorporating new IMO recommendations, and revised medical first aid protocols. HBIMS has already incorporated all updated requirements into our curriculum ahead of the compliance deadline. Our STCW training now exceeds the minimum prescribed hours by 15%.

HBIMS Alumni Rajesh Kumar Promoted to Bosun at Age 24

We are proud to announce that Rajesh Kumar from SDP Batch 2020 has been promoted to Bosun (the most senior rating onboard) at the age of just 24 — one of the youngest Bosun promotions in the Indian merchant navy. Rajesh, who joined HBIMS from a small village in Bihar after completing only 10th standard, credits the rigorous SDP training for laying the foundation of his rapid career growth. His current salary exceeds ₹1.5 lakhs per month.
